Those of us who enjoy singing need no convincing about the benefits - it's good fun!

But there has been a lot of research  about singing and five areas of benefit have been identified:

1   Physical benefits:  improved respiratory and cardiac function, development of motor control in the vocal system, brain development.

2    Psychological benefits:   improved communication skills, expression of feelings,  improved positive self-image.

3   Social benefits:  better communication, increased sense of community, more positive group identity.

4  Musical benefits:  better understanding of music.

5  Education benefits:  increased knowledge of the world around us.
